Hadith 748

وحَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ ، رَأَى قَوْمًا يُصَلُّونَ مِنَ الضُّحَى ، فَقَالَ : أَمَا لَقَدْ عَلِمُوا أَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ فِي غَيْرِ هَذِهِ السَّاعَةِ أَفْضَلُ ، إِنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَاةُ الأَوَّابِينَ حِينَ تَرْمَضُ الْفِصَالُ " .
Zaid bin Arqam, on seeing some people praying in the forenoon, said: They well know that prayer at another time than this is more excellent, for Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: The prayer of those who are penitent is observed when your weaned camels feel the heat of the sun.

حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ ، قَالَ : خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى أَهْلِ قُبَاءَ وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ ، فَقَالَ : " صَلَاةُ الأَوَّابِينَ إِذَا رَمِضَتِ الْفِصَالُ " .
Zaid bin Arqam reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out to the people of Quba' and saw them observing prayer; upon this he said: The prayer of the penitent should be observed when the young weaned camels feel heat of the sun.

Vocabulary of the Hadith:
(1)
Awwab:
Derived from "awba,"
which means to return,
to turn back.
The intended meaning is one who repents and turns back (to Allah),
one who returns to obedience and submission.

(2)
Tarmaḍu:
From "ramda’,"
which refers to that sand which, due to the heat and intensity of the sun, becomes hot and starts to burn.

(3)
Al-Fisal:
Plural of "fasīl," which is the young of a camel or cow that has been separated from its mother.
The intended meaning is that when the feet of the young camels begin to burn due to the heat of the sand.
