Hadith Commentary:
The purpose of mentioning this chain of narration is to establish that Abis met with Aisha (radi Allahu anha), because the following narration is transmitted with the word "an" (عن).

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
From this hadith, it is understood that dates were often present in the house of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), and he would become satiated with them. Occasionally, he would eat dates along with wheat bread; these very dates would serve as his condiment (salan). This means that, apart from bread, whatever else was present in the house would be referred to as a condiment, as is mentioned in a hadith where the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) requested lunch, and he was presented with bread and whatever condiment was available in the house. (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-At‘imah, Hadith: 5430)
(2)
Ibn Battal said that whatever is used in the house as a condiment is, in customary usage, called a condiment, whether it is liquid or solid. (Fath al-Bari: 11/696) Linguistically, anything that can form even a thin layer on bread is considered a condiment, such as ghee and honey, etc. Later, this was broadened so that anything eaten with bread was termed a condiment. It is not necessary that it be mixed with bread and that the components of the bread dissolve into it.
(3)
This definition of condiment is merely contrived. In any case, if someone uses anything with bread as a condiment, his oath will be broken. And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:
You (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) preferred to eat very little.
The same was the case with your pure family.
Here, this is what is generally meant.
May Allah grant every Muslim the ability to act upon every type of Sunnah of His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
Especially those who claim knowledge and virtue, who are notorious for overeating, such as most of the descendants of pirs and custodians of shrines, who, by eating excessively, become corpulent—except those whom Allah wills.

Hadith Commentary:
The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam preferred to eat very little. He had absolutely no inclination towards worldly luxury and comfort. The same was true for the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum. For instance, Hazrat Juhaifah radi Allahu anhu says that once he ate tharid (meat soaked in bread), and then presented himself before the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam while he was belching. The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
"Abu Juhaifah! Restrain your belching. Those who eat to their fill in this world will be hungry on the Day of Resurrection."
(al-Mustadrak ‘ala al-Sahihayn by al-Hakim: 4/121, and al-Silsilah al-Sahihah by al-Albani, Hadith: 343)
After this, Hazrat Abu Juhaifah radi Allahu anhu never ate to his fill until his death. If he ate in the morning, he would skip the evening meal, and if he ate in the evening, he would forgo the morning meal.

Hadith Commentary:
Sending milk as a gift is established from this.
Three new moons would be sighted within two months in such a way that the first moon would be seen at the beginning of the month, then the second moon at the end of it, and the third moon at the end of the second month.
Among the black things, water was also included, although water is not black.
However, Arabs sometimes use the dual form for a single thing by name.
For example, they refer to both the sun and the moon as "shamsayn" and "qamarayn" (the two suns, the two moons), and similarly, they refer to both milk and water as "abiyadayn" (the two whites), even though only milk is actually white.
Water, in fact, has no color.
From this hadith, it is established that presenting milk as a gift, offering, or grant is permissible.
In terms of benefits, this is a very great gift that a person can present to another.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
As for the dates, it can be said that they are black, because the dates of Madinah Tayyibah are indeed black. However, the water has been called black by way of predominance. In the Arabic language, it is often the case that the predominant thing is taken into consideration. Since the dates are the main thing and they are black, the water is also referred to as black.
(2)
According to this hadith, the Ansari neighbor of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to send him milk. On this basis, it is established that sending milk as a gift or present is permissible. In terms of benefits, this is a very valuable gift that one person presents to another.
(3)
It is understood from the hadith that a wealthy person should treat a poor person well and continue to give him gifts from his wealth. Furthermore, a person should be content with a small amount. Contentment preserves a person’s honor, dignity, and self-respect.

Hadith Commentary:
Benefits and Issues:
At the end of the second month, the crescent of the third month becomes visible;
in this way, within two months, three crescents are sighted, and the water has been described as black due to the predominance and association with dates.
