Khalid bin Umair reported: I heard Uqba bin Ghazwan as saying: I found myself as the seventh amongst the seven who had been along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . We had nothing to eat but the leaves of hubla (a wild tree) until the corners of our mouths were injured.

➊ The severe circumstances that befell the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the noble Companions (radi Allahu anhum) are a lesson in patience and steadfastness for us.
➋ The purpose of mentioning such circumstances from the pulpit is to make the listeners understand that now, when all kinds of blessings are available, one should express gratitude to Allah for them, and should not begin to complain over even a minor decrease in these blessings.
