باب إِخْبَارِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيمَا يَكُونُ إِلَى قِيَامِ السَّاعَةِ:Chapter: The Prophet's Foretelling Of What Will Happen Until The Hour Begins
وحَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ عُثْمَانُ : حَدَّثَنَا ، وقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ " قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَقَامًا مَا تَرَكَ شَيْئًا يَكُونُ فِي مَقَامِهِ ذَلِكَ إِلَى قِيَامِ السَّاعَةِ ، إِلَّا حَدَّثَ بِهِ حَفِظَهُ مَنْ حَفِظَهُ ، وَنَسِيَهُ مَنْ نَسِيَهُ ، قَدْ عَلِمَهُ أَصْحَابِي هَؤُلَاءِ ، وَإِنَّهُ لَيَكُونُ مِنْهُ الشَّيْءُ قَدْ نَسِيتُهُ ، فَأَرَاهُ فَأَذْكُرُهُ كَمَا يَذْكُرُ الرَّجُلُ وَجْهَ الرَّجُلِ إِذَا غَابَ عَنْهُ ، ثُمَّ إِذَا رَآهُ عَرَفَهُ " ،
Hudhaifa reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stood before us one day and he did not leave anything unsaid (that he had to say) at that very spot which would happen (in the shape of turmoil) up to the Last Hour. Those who had to remember them preserved them in their minds and those who could not remember them forgot them. My friends knew them and there are certain things which slipped from my mind, but I recapitulate them when anyone makes a mention of them just as a person is lost from one's mind but is recalled to him on seeing his face.

Hadith Commentary:

In one narration, Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu said:
By Allah! I do not know whether my companions have truly forgotten or are only pretending to have forgotten.
By Allah! The leaders of the tribulations (fitan) that will come until the end of the world, each of whom will have three hundred or more followers—Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not leave any of them out; he informed (us) of their names along with their fathers’ names and even the names of their tribes.
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Kitab al-Fitan wal-Malahim, Hadith: 4243)
In another narration, it is mentioned that whenever any of those events occur, I remember all of them, just as a person remembers someone’s face after he has left, and then after a long time, when he sees him, he recognizes him.

These are the tribulations (fitan) that Allah, the Exalted, has decreed, and they will certainly occur as the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has indicated. Thus, Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu used to say:
“By Allah! I know all the tribulations that are to occur between me and the Day of Resurrection. This is because the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam specifically informed me about them in confidence; he did not inform anyone else besides me.”
(Sahih Muslim, Kitab al-Fitan, Hadith: 7262 (2891))

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: From this hadith, it is understood that a time will come when the people of Madinah will be compelled to leave Madinah. However, what will be the reason for this, Hazrat Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu was not able to ask the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
