Hadith Commentary:
It is understood from this that when one repents, the gates of the treasures of Allah’s mercy are opened, and all the sins of the one who repents are transformed into good deeds.
Whether he accumulated evils through gambling, or gathered sins in wine and feasting, or committed theft, dishonesty, oppression and injustice, or indulged in lies and deceit— all of these will be transformed into good deeds through repentance, and Allah will be pleased with that person.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
A believer considers the thought of sins to be very grave, as if the sin is a mountain that will fall upon him. In contrast, a wicked person regards sins as very insignificant, as if it is a fly that sits on his nose and he simply swats it away with his hand.

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) described Allah’s happiness at His servant’s repentance in a parabolic manner: A camel rider passing through the wilderness, when he becomes tired, stops under the shade of a tree and falls asleep. Upon waking, he finds his camel, along with its provisions, missing. After searching here and there and failing to find it, he lies down again under the same tree, thinking that now he will die. But when he wakes up, he finds his camel standing there with all its provisions. Such a person experiences an overwhelming wave of joy, having escaped the jaws of death.

Allah is even more pleased with His servant’s repentance than this person.

(2)
In any case, through the servant’s sincere repentance, his sins are transformed into good deeds, and Allah is extremely pleased with such a servant.

At the end of this hadith narrated from Anas (radi Allahu anhu), these words are mentioned:
“When that person took hold of the reins of his lost camel, out of the intensity of his joy, he uttered these words:
‘O Allah! You are my servant and I am Your Lord.’ The person, due to the intensity of his happiness, misspoke.”
(Sahih Muslim, al-Tawbah, Hadith: 6960 (2747))

In any case, a person should continue to repent from his sins.

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“O people! Repent to Allah. I myself repent to Allah a hundred times a day.”
(Sahih Muslim, al-Dhikr wa’l-Du‘a, Hadith: 6859 (2702))
