Shaykh Maulana Abdul Aziz Alvi
Hadith Commentary:
Benefits and Issues:
Allah, the Exalted, loves those places where people are engaged in His remembrance, performing dhikr and supplication, being occupied with tasbih (glorification), tahmid (praise), tahlil (declaration of Allah's oneness), and takbir (magnification of Allah). They are involved in the teaching and learning of the Book and Sunnah, or in reading them. These activities occur most frequently in the mosques; therefore, mosques are the most beloved of all places. In contrast, marketplaces are generally devoid of the remembrance of Allah; there is constant noise and commotion, open lying, false oaths, deception, fraud, mixing of the lawful and unlawful, and illicit business dealings are at their peak. The commands of the Shari‘ah are openly violated; therefore, these places are not beloved to Allah, the Exalted.
