Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: In the previous narrations, the mention is of cutting a branch, whereas here it is referred to as a tree, because that branch from the tree would strike those passing on the path. Its cutting has been expressed as the cutting of the tree, because it was a part of the tree.

Benefits and Issues:
➊
Protecting people from harm and injury is greatly beloved to Allah Ta'ala.
➋
Even a small act that benefits the public can become a means of entering Paradise.
➌
Narrowing or blocking the path through unlawful encroachments is a grave sin. Commonly, on occasions such as weddings, the road is blocked to arrange the event. This is a cause of Allah’s wrath.
➍
Throwing garbage in the pathway, or relieving oneself there, is a major sin. There is a curse upon the one who urinates or defecates under a shady tree where people sit, or on the pathway.
