Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: (1)
Allah Ta'ala accepted the supplication of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) in favor of Anas (radi Allahu anhu). He had over one hundred children (sons, grandsons, granddaughters, etc.), and his (Anas’s) orchard would bear fruit twice a year, and he was granted every kind of abundance and prosperity.

If there is only one person praying with the imam, he will stand to the right side of the imam.

By the blessing of his (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) supplication, Anas (radi Allahu anhu) lived for more than one hundred years, and at the time of his passing, the number of his offspring exceeded one hundred.

In this hadith, there is no mention of longevity for Anas radi Allahu anhu. Some scholars have said that in order to have many children, it is necessary for the parent to have a long life, but in another hadith, this is explicitly stated. Thus, Anas radi Allahu anhu narrates that one day the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam came to our house and made supplication for us.
My mother, Umm Sulaym radi Allahu anha, said:
O Messenger of Allah! This little servant of yours, Anas—please supplicate for him as well.
You supplicated:
“O Allah! Increase his wealth and offspring.
Lengthen his life and forgive him.”
Anas radi Allahu anhu says:
The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam made three supplications for me, the acceptance of which I have witnessed with my own eyes.
My descendants increased to such an extent that I have, up to now, buried one hundred and three children.
My orchard bears fruit twice a year.
My life has become so long that now I feel shy before people.
I hope that on the Day of Resurrection, Allah Ta’ala will certainly forgive me.

From this hadith, it is understood that it is permissible to supplicate for an increase in wealth and family, provided that one does not become heedless of the remembrance of Allah Ta’ala and the fulfillment of His rights.
And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) made three supplications for Anas (radi Allahu anhu), and Allah, the Exalted, honored them with acceptance:
One supplication was that there be abundance in his wealth, the second that his offspring be numerous, and the third that his life be long.

From this hadith, it is understood that it is permissible to supplicate for someone to have abundant wealth and offspring.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) made these supplications only for Anas (radi Allahu anhu); he did not include himself in these supplications.
And this is the intended point.

The supplication of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was accepted in favor of Anas (radi Allahu anhu).
He lived for more than one hundred years, and at the time of his passing, the number of his descendants exceeded one hundred.
That is the bounty of Allah; He gives it to whom He wills.

The command of Allah, the Exalted, is:
“Indeed, among your wives and your children are enemies to you, so beware of them.” (At-Taghabun: 14)
Children are enemies in the sense that a person, being captivated by their love, may end up disobeying Allah, the Exalted, and His Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
In such circumstances, one should be cautious of them. However, if children are helpful in obeying Allah, the Exalted, then such children are greatly blessed.
In this case, they can be considered a tremendous blessing from Allah, the Exalted.

Imam al-Bukhari rahimahullah, in the chapter heading, has deemed it permissible to supplicate for abundance of offspring along with blessing, and in the hadith, there is mention of a supplication made by the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) for Anas ibn Malik radi Allahu anhu. As a result of this supplication, Allah, the Exalted, granted Anas radi Allahu anhu abundant offspring. He himself states that his daughter Amina informed him that before the arrival of Hajjaj ibn Yusuf in Basra, one hundred and twenty of his own children had passed away.

Regarding the children of Anas radi Allahu anhu who were alive at that time, Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah has written, referencing Sahih Muslim:
“My sons and grandsons are more than one hundred.”
(Fath al-Bari: 4/291)
When he would perform tawaf of the House of Allah, more than seventy individuals from among his children would be with him.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
Allah Ta’ala has declared wealth and children to be a means of trial in the Noble Qur’an (: at-Taghabun: 15). Allah Ta’ala tests people through these things in such a way that a person, becoming entangled in these perishable and transient things, forgets the everlasting blessings of the Hereafter. However, if someone uses these things as a means to attain the Hereafter and does not fall prey to the allure of the world, then wealth and children become a means of great reward.

Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has deemed it permissible to supplicate for abundance of wealth along with blessing (barakah). The meaning of barakah is that it proves helpful in obedience to Allah. Thus, as a result of the supplication of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Allah Ta’ala increased the wealth of Anas radi Allahu anhu. Anas radi Allahu anhu himself states that among the Ansar, I am the wealthiest. (: Musnad Ahmad: 248/3) In another narration, it is mentioned that his garden would bear fruit twice a year, and it had such flowers from which the fragrance of musk would emanate. (: Jami’ at-Tirmidhi, al-Manaqib, Hadith: 3833)

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: The garden of Anas radi Allahu anhu used to bear fruit twice a year, and it contained basil (rayhan), from which the fragrance of musk would emanate, and more than a hundred of his children passed away.
