Abu Musa reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: When the Ash'arites run short of provisions in the campaigns or run short of food for their children in Madinah they collect whatever is with them in the cloth and then partake equally from one vessel. They are from me and I am from them.

Hadith Commentary:
Vocabulary of the Hadith:
(1)
Armalu fi al-ghazw:
Their food would run out during battle.

(2)
Fahum minni wa ana minhum:
My way and their way or conduct are the same,
they follow in my footsteps,
the spirit of compassion and self-sacrifice is deeply ingrained in them,
therefore, they eat together, and from this hadith it is also understood
that a person, as a way of recounting blessings (tahdith ni‘mah) or out of gratitude, may express his virtues and merits before others,
because the narrator of both these hadiths is Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari (radi Allahu anhu).

Hadith Commentary:
That is, they are specifically upon my way and my Sunnah, and I am upon their way.
From this hadith, it is derived that in travel or at home, gathering provisions together and distributing them equally is recommended (mustahabb).
The relevance to the chapter heading is apparent:
And its correspondence to the translation is taken from his statement: "They gathered what they had in a single cloth, then divided it among themselves." (Umdat al-Qari)

Hadith Commentary:
Gathering food supplies together and distributing them by estimation is not exclusive to travel; rather, this action can also be done in residence, as is mentioned regarding the practice of the people of the Ash‘ari tribe: whenever they were in need, whatever food and drink supplies they had, they would combine them and distribute them equally.

This is the best type of partnership.

In times of difficulty, this can be done, and there is no need to be particular about any increase or decrease, such as if one person contributed less but received more in the distribution.
