Hadith Commentary:
Vocabulary of the Hadith:
Al-wasm:
Branding,
Mark,
Sign.

Benefits and Issues: Imam Nawawi rahimahullah states,
It is prohibited to strike the face of any living being that is worthy of respect,
whether human,
donkey,
horse,
camel,
mule, or sheep and goats, etc.—all are included in this ruling.
However, striking a human being on the face is especially prohibited,
because the face is the center of all beauty and is a delicate (soft and sensitive)
organ,
upon which the effect and mark of a blow remains, and at times it becomes a cause of disfigurement, and sometimes the pain caused by it is severe.
Branding the face is also not permissible,
and except for humans, it is permissible to brand other animals on places other than the face when there is a need,
and similarly, striking (animals) on places other than the face out of necessity is also permissible.

Explanation:
1:
The face is the most superior and noble among the parts of the body.
Striking the face can result in the impairment of certain senses.
Along with this, there is also the risk of the face becoming disfigured.
For this reason, not only is striking the face disliked, but also causing any kind of mark or blemish upon it is considered undesirable.

Benefits and Issues:

The face is an honorable part of the body.
It is prohibited to strike the face, whether of a human or an animal.

The cursing (la'nat) of the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was not by his own will, but rather was based on divine inspiration (ilham ilahi).
