Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues:
➊
From both of these hadiths, it is established that jinn are an independent creation, separate from humans, just as the existence of jinn is also proven from the Noble Qur’an (). Since jinn remain hidden and concealed from the sight of ordinary people, they have been given this name.
➋
Ordinary people cannot see jinn, nor can they generally be seen, but sometimes it is possible to see them, just as the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) saw a jinn, strangled it, pushed it away, and intended to tie it up.
➌
Jinn were included in the army of Prophet Sulayman (alayhis salam), and they used to perform great, difficult, and strenuous tasks for him. If the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had captured the jinn and tied it to a pillar, it could have caused confusion that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) also had authority and power over the jinn. Therefore, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not carry out his intention.
➍
If someone is troubled by a jinn, he may curse them, and even during prayer, seeking refuge (ta‘awwudh) in Allah is permissible. The best way to remain safe from the attacks of jinn is to seek refuge with Allah, the Exalted.
