Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Food for one person suffices two persons and food for two persons suffices four persons, and food for four persons suffices eight persons; and in the tradition transmitted on the authority of Ishaq there is no mention of the fact that he heard it directly (from the Holy Prophet).
´It was narrated from Jabir bin ‘Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The food of one person is sufficient for two, the food of two is sufficient for four, and the food for four is sufficient for eight.”

Benefits and Issues: ➊ If the food is scarce, a Muslim should eat while being mindful of his fellow companions.
➋ By eating together, the food suffices for a slightly greater number of people and there is blessing (barakah) in the food.
➌ Mutual compassion and goodwill are distinguishing qualities of Muslims.
