It has been reported on the authority of Mujashi' bin Mas'ud who said: I brought my brother Abu Ma'bad to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) after the conquest of Makkah and said: Messenger of Allah, allow him to swear his pledge of migration at your hand. He said: The period of migration is over with those who had to do it (and now nobody can get this meritorious distinctions) I said: For what actions will you allow him to bind himself in oath? He said: (He can do so) for serving the cause of Islam, for fighting in the way of Allah and for fighting in the cause of virtue. Abd 'Uthman said: I met Abd Ma'bad and told him what I had heard from Mujashi'. He said: He has told the truth.

Hadith Commentary:
It is evident that in the pure eras of the Companions (radi Allahu anhum) and the Followers (tabi‘in), discussions of the Prophetic hadiths used to take place among the Muslims, and they would also have the hadiths verified by their elders.
In this manner, the treasure of Prophetic hadiths has been preserved in its authentic form for all time until the Day of Judgment, just as the Noble Qur’an is preserved, and this is a great proof of the truthfulness of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
Those who deny the authentic hadiths are, in reality, ignorant friends of Islam, and in this way, they wish to erase the pure biography of the Prophet of Islam (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), but their impure efforts will never succeed.
Along with Islam and the Qur’an, the pure treasure of the Prophetic hadiths will also always remain preserved.
Similarly, this accessible translation of Sahih al-Bukhari, along with its commentary, will continue to be a means of guidance for many pure souls.
Insha’Allah al-‘Aziz.

Hadith Commentary:
➊
This hadith alludes to the incident that occurred after the Conquest of Makkah.
➋
The meaning of the noble statement of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is that migration (hijrah) has ended for the emigrants, and the migration which held virtue was before the Conquest of Makkah. Whoever was destined for this virtue has attained it. Now, only allegiance (bay‘ah) will be taken from them.
What is important in Islam is to remain steadfast upon Islam and faith (iman), and to strive in the path of Allah (jihad).
➌
This ruling pertains to the migration (hijrah) of Madinah.
If, in any region, conditions similar to those of Makkah arise for the Muslims, then even today they may migrate towards the abode of Islam (dar al-Islam).
It is hoped that with Allah, they will receive the reward of migration, but sincerity of intention is absolutely essential.
➍
In one narration, it is clarified that Mujashi‘ bin Mas‘ud (radi Allahu anhu) brought his brother Mujalid bin Mas‘ud (radi Allahu anhu) to the service of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and said:
“O Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)! This is Mujalid; he wishes to pledge allegiance to you for migration (hijrah).” So the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“After the Conquest of Makkah, the time for migration has ended, but I take his pledge for remaining steadfast upon Islam.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Jihad wa’l-Siyar, Hadith: 7830.)
