It has been narrated on the authority of Anas bin Malik (RA) who said: When they (Companions of the Holy Prophet) were overwhelmed with grief and distress on his return from Hudaibiya where he had slaughtered his sacrificial beasts (not being allowed to proceed to Makkah), the Qur'anic verse: Inna fatahna... laka fathan mobinan to fauzan 'aziman, was revealed to him. (At this) he said: On me has descended a verse that is dearer to me than the whole world.

In the first of these verses,
Glad tidings have been given to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam of victory,
Universal forgiveness,
Completion of blessings,
Guidance to the straight path (sirat al-mustaqim), and mighty help (nasr aziz),
Therefore, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam declared it more beloved than the entire world.

Explanation:
1: (Allah has prescribed jihad so that) Allah may forgive your past and future sins (al-Fath: 2)
2:
So that He may admit the believing men and believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will abide forever, and so that He may remove from them their sins. And with Allah, this is a great success (al-Fath: 5)
