Hadith 450

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَرْمِيُّ ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ ، عَنْ مَعْنٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، قَالَ : " سَأَلْتُ مَسْرُوقًا ، مَنْ آذَنَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْجِنِّ لَيْلَةَ اسْتَمَعُوا الْقُرْآنَ ؟ فَقَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُوكَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ، أَنَّهُ آذَنَتْهُ بِهِمْ شَجَرَةٌ " .
Ma'n reported.. I heard it from my father who said: I asked Masruq who informed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about the night when they heard the Qur'an. He said: Your father, Ibn Mas'ud, narrated it to me that a tree informed him about that.
