Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: (Muḥaṣṣab is also called Ḥaṣbah, Abṭaḥ, Buṭḥā’), and it is also known as Khayf Bani Kinānah.
During the Farewell Pilgrimage (Ḥajjat al-Wadā‘), the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam stayed in the valley of Maḥaṣṣab after returning from Mina, and it was from here that he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam departed for Madinah Munawwarah. Following his example, the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum ajma‘in and the Rightly Guided Caliphs would also stay here. Therefore, according to the four Imams, staying here is Sunnah. However, according to the view of some Imams, based on the statements of Ibn ‘Abbās radi Allahu anhu and ‘Ā’ishah radi Allahu anha, it is not Sunnah to stay here; rather, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam stayed here merely for his own convenience and ease.
