'A'isha reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) died (in such a state) that there had been nothing in my wooden tub which a living being could afford to eat but a handful of barley therein. I had been eating out of that for a fairly long duration when I thought of measuring it and it was almost finished.

Hadith Commentary:
That which is mentioned in another hadith, "Measure your grain, there will be blessing in it," means that it is better to measure at the time of buying and selling. However, when spending at home, one should spend while taking the name of Allah; there will be blessing in it.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
Although after the conquests there was an increase in household expenses, yet due to preferring others (ithar) and showing compassion towards them, the state of domestic life remained as it was described by Hazrat Aisha radi Allahu anha.
(2)
In this hadith, it is mentioned that when Hazrat Aisha radi Allahu anha measured her grain, it finished, whereas in another hadith it is stated: “Measure your grain, there will be blessing in it.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Buyu’, Hadith: 2128) The meaning is that measuring at the time of buying and selling is a cause of blessing, but when spending at home, instead of measuring, if one spends while taking the name of Allah, then there will be blessing.
