Hadith 2940

'Abdullah bin 'Amr reported that a person came to him and said: What is this hadith that you narrate that the Last Hour would come at such and such time? Thereupon he said: Hallowed be Allah, there is no god but Allah (or the words to the same effect). I have decided that I would not narrate anything to anyone now. I had only said that you would see after some time an important event that the (sacred) House (Ka’bah) would be burnt and it would happen and definitely happen. He then reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: The Dajjal would appear in my Ummah and he would stay (in the world) for forty-I cannot say whether he meant forty days, forty months or forty years. And Allah would then send Jesus son of Mary who would resemble 'Urwa b Mas'ud. He (Jesus Christ) would chase him and kill him. Then people would live for seven years that there would be no rancour between two persons. Then Allah would send cold wind from the side of Syria that none would survive upon the earth having a speck of good in him or faith in him but he would die, so much so that even if some amongst you were to enter the innermost part of the mountain, this wind would reach that place also and that would cause his death. I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Only the wicked people would survive and they would be as careless as birds with the charactertistics of beasts. They would never appreciate the good nor condemn evil. Then the Satan would come to them in human form and would say: Don't you respond? And they would say: What do you order us? And he would command them to worship the idols but, in spite of this, they would have abundance of sustenance and lead comfortable lives. Then the trumpet would be blown and no one would hear that but he would bend his neck to one side and raise it from the other side and the first one to hear that trumpet would be the person who would be busy in setting right the tank meant for providing water to the camels. He would swoon and the other people would also swoon, then Allah would send or He would cause to send rain which would be like dew and there would grow out of it the bodies of the people. Then the second trumpet would be blown and they would stand up and begin to look (around). Then it would be said: O people, go to your Lord, and make them stand there. And they would be questioned. Then it would be said: Bring out a group (out of them) for the Hell-Fire. And then it would be asked: How much? It would be said: Nine hundred and ninty-nine out of one thousand for the Hell-Fire and that would be the day which would make the children old because of its terror and that would be the day about which it has been said: "On the day when the shank would be uncovered" (lxviii. 42).

Ya'qub bin 'Asim bin Urwa bin Mas'ud reported: I heard a person saying to 'Abdullah bin 'Amr (RA) : You say that the Last Hour would come at such and such time, whereupon he said: I had made up my mind that I would not narrate anything to you. I only said: But you would soon see after some time a very significant affair, for example the burning of the House (Ka’bah). Shu'bah said like this and 'Abdullah b Amr reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said: The Dajjal would appear in my Ummah. And in another hadith (the words are): None would survive who would have even a speck of faith in his heart, but he would be dead. Muhammad bin ja'far reported that Shu'bah narrated to him this hadith many a time and I also read it out to him many a time.

(2)
yab’athullahu ‘Isa ibn Maryam:
According to authentic ahadith, the Ahl al-Sunnah believe that
‘Isa (alayhis salam) will descend from the heavens in the last era and will kill the Dajjal.
He will act according to your (the Prophet’s) Shari‘ah.
Some of the Mu‘tazilah and Jahmiyyah have denied these ahadith based on Allah’s statement,
“Khatam al-nabiyyin” () and your (the Prophet’s) saying,
“La nabiyya ba‘di,”
whereas the meaning of the verse and hadith is that
no prophet will be born after me.
(And ‘Isa (alayhis salam) was not born after you,
he was granted prophethood before you,
no one will be granted prophethood after you,
and anyone who claims prophethood after you will be a liar.)

Hadith Commentary:
It is Allah Almighty’s principle that He tests His believing servants by subjecting them to various trials. Among these trials is the tribulation (fitnah) of the Dajjal. Allah Almighty will grant him great power. He will send cool breezes for his followers. He will cause rains to fall. He will make crops and grain grow from the earth. In short, he will provide means of prosperity for them, and those who call him a liar, he will afflict them with famine and poverty. He will throw them into the fire that he holds in one of his hands, which in reality will be Paradise. But all of this will occur by the permission of Allah Almighty, and if Allah Almighty does not permit, he will not be able to do anything. In one hadith, it is mentioned that what people will perceive as fire will in fact be cool water. (: Sahih al-Bukhari, Ahadith al-Anbiya, Hadith: 3450)

Benefits and Issues:
The phrase (هُوَ أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ)
has one meaning which has been adopted in the translation, that is, the Dajjal is so contemptible that Allah will not grant him these things; rather, it will merely be an apparent deception.
Its second possible meaning is that, when despite being so contemptible in the sight of Allah, he has been given the ability to display such great feats, then food and water are trivial matters.
Hafiz Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani rahimahullah has also mentioned another meaning: that the Dajjal is so contemptible that Allah, exalted is He, will not allow these feats to become proof of his truthfulness; rather, He will manifest such things by which his falsehood will become clear, for example:
The clear sign of his disbelief (the word “K, F, R” written on his forehead),
which every literate and illiterate person will be able to read. (Fath al-Bari: 13/116)

Benefit:
At the end of this hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari (7122), there is an addition: I said, "People say: There will be a mountain of bread and a river of water with him." The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
"It is even easier than that for Allah."
Among the major signs of the Day of Judgment is the trial of the Dajjal. The word "Dajjal" is derived from "dajal," which means: to deceive, to conceal the truth, and to display trickery. Near the end of times, the Dajjal will appear and display various tricks, to the extent that he will claim to be a deity, but he himself will be one-eyed. On his forehead will be written: K F R (disbeliever). Declaring the Dajjal to be the greatest trial, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
"O people! Since Allah created the children of Adam, there has never been a trial on earth greater than the trial of the Dajjal, and Allah has not sent any prophet except that he warned his nation about him."
