Hadith Commentary:
Vocabulary of the Hadith:
Jafal al-sha'r:
Thick hair.
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Some supernatural acts will be seen from the Dajjal,
therefore people will fall prey to his deceptions,
but Allah Ta'ala, as a supernatural sign,
will have written "kafir" (disbeliever) between his eyes,
which, as a supernatural matter, every Muslim—whether literate or illiterate—will be able to read, and no disbeliever—whether literate or illiterate—
will be able to read.
He will claim divinity,
but he will not be able to correct his eyes, nor erase the word "kafir" from between his eyes,
by which his deception and trickery will become clear to the Muslims.

Hadith Commentary:
This refers to the state of the Masih al-Dajjal, who will be the true Dajjal. As for the metaphorical Dajjals, they will continue to mislead the Ummah in the form of scholars (maulvis), spiritual leaders (pirs), and imams, as mentioned in the hadith with the words: "thirty great liars (dajjals) will appear."
In the hadith, there is mention of Allah’s flawless eye.
This is precisely what corresponds to the chapter heading.

Hadith Commentary:
Dajjal will claim to be his Lord; the negation of his lordship has been made.
Its sign is that he will be blind in one eye.
This is such a tangible sign that even the common people can perceive it.
In contrast, the Lordship of Allah Ta’ala has been described, that He has eyes befitting His majesty, free from any defect.
This should be accepted as it appears, based on reality, without any other interpretation, nor can it be likened to the creation.
To deny this attribute is disbelief.
Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has presented two verses and two hadiths to establish the attribute of ‘Ayn (eye) for the Lord of the worlds.
In the verses, both the singular and plural forms are attributed to Allah Ta’ala.
In the singular form, the attribute of ‘Ayn is established, while in the plural, the plural pronoun is taken into consideration.
In the hadiths, the sign of the great liar Dajjal is mentioned, that he will be blind in one eye.
The title is established from this very sentence, because in the Arabic language, “a‘war” is one whose sight in one of the two eyes is lost; on this basis, both hadiths indicate that Allah Ta’ala has two eyes, which are not similar to the eyes of the creation, but rather, as befits the majesty of Allah, the Lord of Might.
Then the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam placed his hands on his eyes to further clarify that both eyes of Allah Ta’ala are sound, healthy, and free from every kind of defect and imperfection.
(Sharh Kitab al-Tawhid by al-Ghunayman: 1/285)
Imam Ibn Khuzaymah rahimahullah states that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam clarified regarding the Lord of the worlds that He has two eyes, and this statement of his is exactly in accordance with the explicit wording of the Noble Qur’an. Then he referenced a hadith narrated from Abu Hurayrah radi Allahu anhu, in which he recited this verse:
“Allah has always been All-Hearing, All-Seeing.”
(al-Nisa 134)
Then he said:
I saw the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, when reciting this verse, place his thumb on his ear and the finger next to it on his eye.
(Kitab al-Tawhid by Ibn Khuzaymah: 42, 43)

Hadith Commentary:
These two hadiths have already appeared with full chains in the section on the Prophets (al-Anbiya).
In the second narration, it is stated that a believer will be able to read it whether he is literate or illiterate, and a disbeliever will not be able to read it even if he is literate.
This will be by the power of Allah, the Exalted.
Nawawi said: The correct view is that, in reality, this word will be written on his (the Dajjal’s) forehead.
Some have interpreted it and said that Allah, the Exalted, will place such a light of faith in the heart of the believer that as soon as he sees the Dajjal, he will recognize that this is a disbelieving impostor and evildoer, and Allah will place a veil over the intellect of the disbeliever so that he will think the Dajjal is truthful.
In another narration, it is stated that this person will be a Muslim and will call out to the people, saying: “O Muslims, this is the very Dajjal about whom the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) informed us.”
In one narration, it is mentioned that the Dajjal will saw him in half.
In another narration, it is mentioned that he will cut him in two with a sword, and this act will not be a miracle of the Dajjal, because Allah, the Exalted, does not grant miracles to such a disbeliever. Rather, it will be an act of Allah, which He will manifest at the hands of the Dajjal in order to test His true servants.
From this hadith, it is also derived that the greatest sign of a wali (friend of Allah) is that he adheres to the Shari‘ah.
If a person acts contrary to the Shari‘ah, even if he brings the dead back to life and shows it, he should still be considered a deputy of the Dajjal.

Hadith Commentary:
1.
In another hadith, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“The Dajjal will have one eye obliterated, and between his two eyes will be written ‘kafir’ (disbeliever).”
Then the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) spelled it out: K, F, R, so that every Muslim would be able to read it.
(Sahih Muslim, Al-Fitan, Hadith: 2933. (7365))
2.
From these ahadith, it is understood that the word ‘kafir’ will be written in reality, whereas some individuals, interpreting this, have said that Allah Ta’ala will fill the heart of the believer with the light of faith (iman).
He will recognize the Dajjal as soon as he sees him, that this is a disbeliever, a fabricator, a deceiver, and a veil will be placed over the intellect of the disbeliever; he will consider the Dajjal to be truthful upon witnessing his deceptions. However, the wording of the ahadith refutes this interpretation.
3.
It should be clear that the Dajjal will not have the ability to erase the word “kafir” written on his forehead, because if this were possible for him, he would certainly erase it so that he could mislead people even more. But this will not be possible for him. The believer will easily be able to read these words, even if he is not literate, and the disbeliever will not be able to read them, even if he is literate.
And Allah knows best.
