Hadith Commentary:
(1)
In another hadith, it is mentioned that the body of a disbeliever will be made so large in Hell that the distance from his ears to his shoulders will be as much as a journey of seventy years.
(Musnad Ahmad: 117/6)
(2)
The bodies of the disbelievers will be enlarged in order to increase their torment and suffering, but when they are presented before the court of Allah, they will be humiliated and disgraced like ants, as is mentioned in a narration:
"On the Day of Resurrection, the arrogant will be raised in the form of men as small as ants, then they will be driven into a prison in Hell whose name is Bulas."
(Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi, Description of the Resurrection, Hadith: 2492)
When they reach Hell, their bodies will be enlarged according to the punishment so that they may fully experience the intensity of the torment.
(3)
Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah says that the punishment of the disbelievers in Hell will vary in severity; those who are stubborn and obstinate disbelievers will be given a harsher punishment compared to the general disbelievers.
