Abu Haraira reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) took hold of my hands and said: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, created the clay on Saturday and He created the mountains on Sunday and He created the trees on Monday and He created the things entailing labour on Tuesday and created light on Wednesday and He caused the animals to spread on Thursday and created Adam ؑ(peace be upon him) after 'Asr on Friday; the last creation at the last hour of the hours of Friday, i. e. between afternoon and night.
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Abdul Aziz Alvi
Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: From some hadiths, it is understood that, along with painful and disliked things, strong and stable things—which are a means for the establishment and management of life—such as iron and minerals, were also created on Tuesday. And with the light of Wednesday, Nun (the fish) and the seas were also created. And the creation of Adam (alayhis salam) did not occur immediately after the creation of the universe; rather, it took place on another Friday after the creation of the heavens and the earth. Therefore, this hadith is not contrary to those Qur’anic verses in which it is stated that the creation of the heavens, the earth, and whatever is between them occurred in six days ().
It is established from the Noble Qur’an that the earth and earthly things were created in four days, and then in two days the heavens and their things were created (). (Surah Ha Mim As-Sajdah: 1, 2) And from this verse, it is understood that these two earthly things were also created.
