Anas reported that a person was charged with fornication with the slave girl of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to 'Ali (RA) : Go and strike his neck. 'Ali came to him and he found him in a well making his body cool. 'Ali said to him: Come out, and as he took hold of his hand and brought him out, he found that his sexual organ had been cut. Hadrat 'Ali refrained from striking his neck. He came to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and said: Allah's Messenger, he has not even the sexual organ with him.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: It is established from the hadith that sometimes, without any reason, a person is accused due to suspicion and ill-thinking. For example, this man was a Copt; according to some, he was the cousin of Hazrat Mariyah and had come with her from Egypt. Because he and Hazrat Mariyah Qibtiyyah were both from the same homeland, he would converse with her, so people leveled this accusation against him. Upon the people's saying, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) gave the order for him to be killed.
When the reality became clear, Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) refrained from killing him and came to inform the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). From this, it is understood that a judge is bound by the testimony of witnesses; the responsibility for truth and falsehood lies with them. As for the issue that he was a hypocrite and the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had given the order to kill him for some other reason, then the question arises: why did the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) not inform Hazrat Ali of the reason, so that he would not have refrained from killing him? And if, through revelation, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had come to know that his private part was severed, then why did he not inform the people himself?
If Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) had killed him without investigation or inquiry, then unnecessarily, the Prophet’s (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) umm walad would have been accused. Since this narration is extremely concise, it is not known what the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said after Hazrat Ali informed him that the man’s private part was not intact; therefore, nothing definitive can be said without this. The main purpose is only to express disavowal of such indecent acts in the Prophet’s (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) sanctuary.
