Usama bin Zaid reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I stood at the door of Paradise and I found that the overwhelming majority of those who entered therein was that of poor persons and the wealthy persons were detained to get into that. The denizens of Hell were commanded to get into Hell, and I stood upon the door of Fire and the majority amongst them who entered there were women.

Hadith Commentary:

Benefits and Issues:
➊ In the world, the majority are poor and needy people, and generally, they are also religious; therefore, they will enter Paradise quickly, while those with wealth and honor will be fewer, and they will also have to give account for their wealth, property, and positions of authority. Thus, they will be left behind.
➋ However, those wealthy individuals who earned their wealth through lawful means and spent it for the sake of the religion, and whose reckoning will be light, are not included in this (warning).
➌ In the same way, women, due to their involvement in cursing, ingratitude, and being engrossed in worldly luxuries, adornment, and beautification, will be more in Hell.

Hadith Commentary: The meaning is that these wealthy individuals who were stopped at the gate of Paradise were those who were religious and deserving of entering Paradise. However, due to their worldly wealth, they were held back, while the poor entered Paradise immediately. As for those who were disbelievers, they were sent to Hell. This hadith appears problematic at first glance, because the time for entering Paradise and Hell has not yet arrived. But the matter is that, in the knowledge of Allah, all events of the past, future, and present exist equally. Thus, Allah the Exalted showed His Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam this event in a dream during sleep, or during the night of Mi'raj, in such a way as if it were happening now.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
Those wealthy and affluent individuals who will be prevented at the gate of Paradise from entering Paradise will be those who were religious and deserving of entry into Paradise, but after crossing the Bridge (Sirat), they will be stopped at another bridge due to the reckoning. They will not enter Paradise along with the poor; rather, the poor will be granted immediate entry into Paradise due to their poverty.

(2)
Allah, the Exalted, showed this incident to His beloved (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) in a dream or on the night of Mi'raj in such a manner as if it was happening at that very moment, even though no one has yet entered Paradise or Hell. Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah writes that this observation of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is other than the vision he experienced while leading the eclipse prayer. (Fath al-Bari: 11/510) And Allah knows best.

Hadith Commentary:
The relevance of this hadith to the chapter heading is that women, since they often invite non-mahram people into the house without their husband's permission, have thus become deserving of the punishment of Hell.

The seeing of this (by) the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was in the realm of vision (dream).
What you (the Prophet) saw is true. And the poor who are religiously observant are more deserving of entering Paradise first; the entry of wealthy Muslims will occur after the entry of the poor Muslims.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) saw this scene in a dream state, and what he saw was true. Most women, since they are disobedient to their husbands and invite people into the house without their husbands’ permission, on this basis have become deserving of Hell.
(2)
No separate heading has been established for this hadith; rather, it is a result and completion of the previous heading. In any case, the women whom the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) saw in Hell were disobedient women, and they will be in Hell more than Muslim men because they were disobedient and disrespectful to their husbands.
