Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The supplication of the servant is granted in case he does not supplicate for sin or for severing the ties of blood, or he does not become impatient. It was said: Allah's Messenger, what does: "If he does not grow impatient" imply? He said: That he should say like this: I supplicated and I supplicated but I did not find it being responded, and then he becomes frustrated and abandons supplication.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Maulana Abdul Aziz Alvi
Hadith Commentary:

Benefits and Issues:
The servant is poor and needy, while Allah is Self-Sufficient and Independent. Therefore, it is the servant’s duty to always remain a humble supplicant at His door and to keep asking, and to be certain that sooner or later his supplication will definitely be accepted. For it is Allah alone who knows in what manner and at what time his supplication should be fulfilled. However, when the servant, out of haste, becomes despondent and abandons supplication, he loses his entitlement to acceptance. There are three forms in which supplication is accepted:

➊ The supplicant receives exactly what he asks for.

➋ Allah, Exalted is He, grants him something better than what he asked for.

➌ In the Hereafter, reward and recompense are stored up for him.

Therefore, to abandon supplication is an act of extreme deprivation.
