The Book of Drinks
باب كَرَاهَةِ التَّنَفُّسِ فِي نَفْسِ الإِنَاءِ وَاسْتِحْبَابِ التَّنَفُّسِ ثَلاَثًا خَارِجَ الإِنَاءِ:
Chapter: It is disliked to breathe into the vessel, and it is recommended to take three breaths, outside the vessel

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الثَّقَفِيُّ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَي بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ : " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يُتَنَفَّسَ فِي الْإِنَاءِ " .
Abu Qatadah (RA) reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) forbade breathing in a vessel.
