Benefits and Issues:
Just as eating and drinking, and wearing clothes are among the basic necessities of a human being, in the same way, urination and defecation are also inherently connected to humans. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), just as he has given guidance and teachings regarding other aspects and fields of life, has likewise provided the following instructions regarding urination, defecation, and purification (taharah) and cleaning oneself after relieving oneself (istinja), which are clear evidence of Islam being a complete code of life:

(1)
The right hand, which our Creator has naturally endowed with more strength, power, and ability to act compared to the left hand, should not be used for cleaning the filth and impurity of istinja.

(2)
One should not sit for relieving oneself in such a way that one’s face or back is towards the qiblah, because the etiquette and respect for the qiblah demand this. Details will follow.

(3)
For cleaning after urination or defecation, at least three stones or clods should be used.

(4)
One should not perform istinja with the bone of a dead animal or with its dried droppings, dung, or manure, etc.
