Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Quhzadh narrated to us, Salamah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Abdullah informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Ibn Shihab, Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr ibn Hazm narrated to me, from Urwah, from Aisha.
And Abdullah ibn Abdur-Rahman ibn Bihram and Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq narrated to me, and the wording is theirs, they said: Abu al-Yaman informed us, Shu'ayb informed us, from al-Zuhri, Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr narrated to me, that Urwah ibn al-Zubayr informed him, that Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
A woman came to me with her two daughters, and she asked me, but I did not find anything with me except one date, so I gave it to her. She took it and divided it between her two daughters, and she did not eat anything from it. Then she got up and left with her two daughters. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered upon me, and I told him her story. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever is tested with anything from daughters and treats them well, they will be a shield for him from the Fire."

Hadith Commentary:
From this hadith, it is established that raising daughters, keeping them with love and compassion, is a very great virtuous deed, which will distance the one who does so from the Hellfire.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
The meaning of treating daughters well is that one should take care of their food, drink, and other needs. One should provide for them fully according to one’s means, not give preference to sons over them, then arrange their marriage, and in this matter, fear Allah and make a correct choice.
(2)
It is also understood from this hadith that raising daughters and treating them with love and compassion is a great act of virtue. Allah, the Exalted, will keep away from Hellfire the person who treats this delicate gender well and takes care of their needs. Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah has written that the right of daughters is stronger and more emphasized than the right of sons, because due to being weak and delicate, they are unable to earn a livelihood, manage affairs well, or possess lofty opinions. Then, when they become widows, they return to their father. (Fath al-Bari: 10/257)

Hadith Commentary:
The relevance of this hadith to the translation of the chapter heading is as follows: this woman divided a single date into two pieces and gave them to her two daughters, which is a very small charity, and despite this, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) gave her the glad tidings of protection from the Fire.
I say, there is no need for such contrivance.
There were two points in the chapter: first, being saved from the Fire by giving a piece of a date; second, giving a small amount in charity.
The hadith of Tu‘addi establishes the first point, and the hadith of Aisha (radi Allahu anha) establishes the second.
She gave a very small charity, that is, a single date.
(Wahidi)
From this, the eagerness of Aisha (radi Allahu anha) for giving charity and alms is also established, and this is because the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Let no beggar leave your presence empty-handed, even if it be with half a date.”
It is narrated by al-Bazzar from the hadith of Abu Huraira (radi Allahu anhu).
(Fath)
That is, no beggar should leave your presence empty-handed, even if it is only with half a piece of a date.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
The relevance of this hadith to the chapter heading is as follows: this woman divided a single date into two parts and then gave each part to each of her daughters. And the conduct of Aisha (radi Allahu anha) is also exactly in accordance with the chapter heading, as whatever she had available, she spent it in the way of Allah. Furthermore, it is also appropriate to the aforementioned statement of Allah, “They spend from the earnings of their toil.” (: al-Tawbah 9:79)
(2)
From this, it is also understood that Sayyida Aisha (radi Allahu anha) was very eager in giving charity and alms, because the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had advised her that if any petitioner comes to you, do not send them back empty-handed, even if you have to give them a portion of a date. (: Fath al-Bari 3/358)
(3)
This hadith also shows that spending on young daughters and taking care of them is an act that becomes a means of salvation from the fire of Hell. Therefore, we should also reflect on this aspect. (: Umdat al-Qari 6/382)

Explanation:
1:
Some narrations indicate that Aisha (radi Allahu anha) gave her three dates. She gave two dates to her two daughters and wanted to eat one date herself, but at the children's request, she split it in half and gave it to them as well. This greatly astonished Aisha (radi Allahu anha). The way to reconcile these two narrations is that at first she gave them one date, then later, when two more dates were obtained, she handed those over to them as well. Or, it may be said that these are two separate incidents.
