باب تَحْرِيمِ النَّمِيمَةِ:Chapter: The Prohibition Of Malicious Gossip (Namimah)
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : إِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ مَا الْعَضْهُ هِيَ النَّمِيمَةُ الْقَالَةُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ ، وَإِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ صِدِّيقًا ، وَيَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ كَذَّابًا " .
'Abdullah bin Mas'ud reported that Muhammad (ﷺ) said: Should I inform you that slandering, that is in fact a tale-carrying which creates dissension amongst people, (and) he (further) said: The person tells the truth until he is recorded as truthful, and he tells a lie until he is recorded as a liar.

because tale-bearing
cuts people off from one another.
al-'adhah:
Lying,
sorcery,
these are very severe and strictly forbidden things.
al-qalah bayna al-nas:
A statement that spreads among people.
Benefits and Issues:
To convey such a statement of someone to another person that causes the latter to harbor suspicion and anger, thereby spoiling mutual relations, is an extremely grave crime and a major sin, because from this arise mutual hatred, enmity, opposition, and estrangement, whereas the Shari'ah seeks to foster the rectification and pleasantness of relationships, and to arouse feelings of mutual sympathy and goodwill.
Allamah Zabidi al-Nu'ani has written that to spread someone’s statement for the purpose of inciting, provoking, and causing corruption is namimah (malicious gossip).
