Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: In the hadith of Anas radi Allahu anhu, the following qualification appears: "ليس لها أهل"—he is not deserving of it—so then my curse and harsh words become a means of purification, mercy, and nearness for him. Here, the question arises: why did you supplicate against someone who was not deserving? The answer to this is that you said this regarding the believers, towards whom you are extremely compassionate and merciful, as is stated in the noble verse of Allah:
حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُم بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ ﴿١٢٨﴾ (Surah At-Tawbah: 128)
"He is most desirous of your welfare, most compassionate and merciful towards the believers."
Therefore, sometimes a believer, unintentionally or unknowingly, or being misled by his own self or by Satan, may commit an act that is not appropriate for him, and later he himself becomes aware of it. And due to human nature, you may become displeased and send a curse upon him or speak harshly to him, which would not be in accordance with your compassion, mercy, and goodwill towards the believers. Therefore, as a precaution, you set this condition, because your blessed habit was always to overlook and forgive; you would even tolerate the words of the hypocrites. And how could you ever allow that your sincere companions be harmed by any of your supplications?
