باب خِصَالِ الْفِطْرَةِ:Chapter: The characteristics of the fitrah
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ مَوْلَى الْحُرَقَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " جُزُّوا الشَّوَارِبَ ، وَأَرْخُوا اللِّحَى ، خَالِفُوا الْمَجُوسَ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Trim closely the moustache, and grow beard, and thus act against the fire-worshippers.

Vocabulary of the Hadith:

Juzzu:
Cut well,
cut properly.

Arkhū al-liḥā:
Let the beard grow long.
The meaning of "irkhā’" is:
to give freedom,
to lengthen.
It is said:
"Arkhā al-faras" — "He loosened the horse’s rope."
"Arkhā al-sitra":
"He let the curtain hang down or left it loose."
