Hadith 2514
حَدَّثَنَا هَدَّابُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " غِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ " .
Abu Dharr (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Go to your people and say that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) says: Ghifar (is a tribe) to whom Allah granted pardon, and Aslam (is the tribe) to whom Allah granted safety.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ ابْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ائْتِ قَوْمَكَ ، فَقُلْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ ، وَغِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا " .
Abu Dharr (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: To the tribe of Aslam Allah has granted safety and to the tribe of Ghifar Allah has granted pardon.

حَدَّثَنَاه مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، فِي هَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ .
This hadith has been reported on the authority of Shu'ba with the same chain of transmitters.

It is in the meaning of "salim" (safe), just as "qatilahu Allah" (may Allah kill him) is in the meaning of "qatil" (killer).
