وحَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ طَارِقٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ حَوْضِي لَأَبْعَدُ مِنْ أَيْلَةَ مِنْ عَدَنٍ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، إِنِّي لَأَذُودُ عَنْهُ الرِّجَالَ ، كَمَا يَذُودُ الرَّجُلُ الإِبِلَ الْغَرِيبَةَ ، عَنْ حَوْضِهِ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَتَعْرِفُنَا ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، تَرِدُونَ عَلَيَّ غُرًّا ، مُحَجَّلِينَ مِنْ آثَارِ الْوُضُوءِ ، لَيْسَتْ لِأَحَدٍ غَيْرِكُمْ " .
Hudhaifa reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: My Cistern is bigger than the space between Aila and Aden. By Him in Whose Hand is my life, I will drive away persons (from it) just as a person drives away unknown camels from his cistern. They (the companions) said: Messenger of Allah, would you recognise us? He said: Yes, you would come to me with white faces, and white hands and feet on account of the traces of ablution. None but you would have (this mark).

Explanation & Benefits
Ibn Majah — Hadith 4302
´It was narrated from Hudhaifah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “My Cistern is wider than the distance between Ailah and ‘Aden. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, its vessels are more numerous than the number of stars, and it is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, I will drive men away from it as a man drives strange camels away from his cistern.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, will you recognize us?” He said: “Yes, you will come to me with radiant faces, hands and feet, because of the traces of ablution, and this is not for anyone but you.”

Benefits and Issues:

➊ The Prophet’s (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) cistern (hawd) will be exclusively for his ummah.

➋ The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) will recognize the individuals of his ummah because their hands and feet will be shining. This indicates that the Prophet is neither omnipresent nor all-knowing of the unseen.

➌ Those who neglect prayer will not be able to drink from the cistern, because they will not possess the distinguishing mark of the Ummah of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

➍ The water in the Hawd al-Kawthar will come from Paradise, and therefore it will possess the excellent qualities of the blessings of Paradise.
