'Abdullah reported that when this verse was revealed:" There is no harm on persons who believe and perform good acts, what they had eaten (formerly) when they avoided it (now) and they affirmed their faith" (v. 93) up to the end. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to me: You are one amongst them.

Explanation: 1: The meaning is that Ibn Mas'ud (radi Allahu anhu) is also among those people who believed and performed righteous deeds. It does not mean that Ibn Mas'ud is among those who passed away before the prohibition of alcohol, because he was alive and it was to him that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was speaking.
