باب رُؤْيَا النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:Chapter: The Dreams Of The Prophet (SAW)
وحَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا صَخْرُ بْنُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَرَانِي فِي الْمَنَامِ أَتَسَوَّكُ بِسِوَاكٍ ، فَجَذَبَنِي رَجُلَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْآخَرِ ، فَنَاوَلْتُ السِّوَاكَ الْأَصْغَرَ مِنْهُمَا ، فَقِيلَ لِي : كَبِّرْ ، فَدَفَعْتُهُ إِلَى الْأَكْبَرِ " .
Abdullah bin 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: I saw in a dream that I was using miswak and the two persons contended to get it from me, the one being older than the other one. I gave the miswak to the younger one. It was said to me to give that to the older one and I gave it to the older one.

From this hadith, it is understood that when giving something, one should take into account the status, rank, and position of people.
The miswak (tooth-stick) is needed by the elder.
In invitations for food and drink, elders will be given precedence.
However, if in a gathering both elders and youngsters are seated, then the beginning will be made from the right side,
regardless of whether the person sitting on that side is younger or older.
