Anas bin Malik (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: I saw during the night that which a person sees during the sleep as if we are in the house of 'Uqba bin Rafi' that there was brought to us the fresh dates of Ibn Tab. I interpreted it as the sublimity for us in the world and good ending in the Hereafter and that our religion is good.

Hadith Commentary:
Vocabulary of the Hadith:
Rutab Ibn Tab:
Ibn Tab is a man from Madinah,
to whom a type of date is attributed,
which was given various names.
Rutab Ibn Tab,
Tamar Ibn Tab,
‘Idhq Ibn Tab,
‘Urjun Ibn Tab.

Benefits and Issues:
There are different ways of interpreting dreams: ➊
Sometimes, interpretation is derived from the words themselves,
as when the Prophet, due to being in the house of ‘Uqbah ibn Rafi‘,
derived “raf‘ah” (elevation, highness) from Rafi‘,
and from ‘Uqbah, deduced the end or outcome (in the Hereafter),
and from rutab (fresh dates), which ripen gradually and are sweet and gentle for the heart,
he deduced the completion of the Shari‘ah and religion,
because the religion is gentle and easy, and it reached completion gradually.

Sometimes, a similar form or appearance is taken from the dream,
for example, if someone is seen teaching in a dream, it is understood that
if he is a person of knowledge, he will become a judge (qadi),
will attain authority,
will have children,
or will become the head of a department.

Sometimes, the interpretation is according to the purpose and intent of the thing seen in the dream,
for example, if someone is traveling, it indicates that a journey is ahead,
if he went to the market, he will earn,
if he is building a house, it means he will get married or will acquire a maidservant.

The meaning of a word is taken as it is known in the Qur’an and Sunnah,
in the speech of the Arabs,
in pre-Islamic poetry,
in wise sayings, or in the common speech of people,
that is what is intended,
for example, the interpretation of “khashabiyyah” (wood) is a hypocrite,
because the Qur’an has called the hypocrites “khashubun musannadah” (),
“farah” (female mouse)
means a sinner,
because the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) called it “fawaysiqah” (little corrupt one),
“zujajah” (glass vessel) means a woman,
in some poetry, a woman is described with this term, and the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) called women “qawārīr” (glass vessels).

Benefits and Issues:
In the interpretation of dreams, sometimes meanings are also derived from words and scenes.
So, in the above-mentioned dream, from the word ‘Uqbah’ the meaning of ‘Aqibah’ (good end) is understood, from ‘Rafi’ the meaning of elevation and high status, and from ‘Ibn Tab’ the meaning of being pure and excellent is understood.
Which, by the praise of Allah, has been proven as a historical reality.
