باب لاَ عَدْوَى وَلاَ طِيَرَةَ وَلاَ هَامَةَ وَلاَ صَفَرَ وَلاَ نَوْءَ وَلاَ غُولَ وَلاَ يُورِدُ مُمْرِضٌ عَلَى مُصِحٍّ:Chapter: There Is No 'Adwa, No Tiyarah (Evil Omens), No Hamah. No Safar, No Nawa', And No Ghoul, And No Sick Camel Should Be Brought To A Healthy Camel
Hadith 2222
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ . ح وحدثنا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قال : قال رسول اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا عَدْوَى وَلَا طِيَرَةَ وَلَا غُولَ " .
Ahmad ibn Yunus narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir. And Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Khaythamah informed us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no contagion, nor is there any omen, nor is there any ghoul."

وحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هَاشِمِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ وَهُوَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قال : قال رسول اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا عَدْوَى وَلَا غُولَ وَلَا صَفَرَ " .
Jabir reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: There is no transitive disease, no ghoul, no safar.

وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَا عَدْوَى وَلَا صَفَرَ وَلَا غُولَ " ، وَسَمِعْتُ أَبَا الزُّبَيْر ِ يَذْكُرُ أَنَّ جَابِرًا فَسَّرَ لَهُمْ قَوْلَهُ " وَلَا صَفَرَ " ، فَقَالَ أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ : الصَّفَرُ الْبَطْنُ ، فَقِيلَ لِجَابِرٍ : كَيْفَ ؟ ، قَالَ : كَانَ يُقَالُ دَوَابُّ الْبَطْنِ ، قَالَ : وَلَمْ يُفَسِّرِ الْغُولَ ، قَالَ أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ : هَذِهِ الْغُولُ الَّتِي تَغَوَّلُ .
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: There is no transitive disease, no safar, no ghoul. He (the narrator) said: I heard Abu Zubair say: Jabir explained for them the word safar. Abu Zubair said: safar means belly. It was said to Jabir: Why is it so? He said that it was held that safar implied the worms of the belly, but he gave no explanation of ghoul. Abu Zubair said: Ghoul is that which kills the travellers.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: La Ghool:
The Arabs held the belief that witches (churails) appeared to people in the wilderness,
who would take on various forms,
lead people astray from their path and destroy them. The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) negated their ability to change forms and target people in this manner,
but did not say
that there is no such thing as a churail or witch among the jinn.
Because rebellious female jinn are referred to as churail or witch.
Therefore, in some ahadith it is mentioned:
When the ghool (plural: gheelaan) appear, then call the adhan (call to prayer),
and by the remembrance of Allah, you will be protected from their evil.
