Jabir reported that he visited Muqanna' and then said: I will not go away unless you get yourself cupped, for I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say: It is a remedy.

'Asim bin 'Umar bin Qatada reported: There came to our house 'Abdullah and another person from amongst the members of the household who complained of a wound. Jabir said: What ails you? He said: There is a wound which is very painful for me, whereupon he said: Boy, bring to me a cupper. He said: 'Abdullah, what do you intend to do with the cupper? I said: I would get this wound cupped. He said: By Allah, even the touch of fly or cloth causes me pain and cupping would thus cause me (unbearable) pain. And when he saw him feeling pain (at the idea of cupping), he said: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If there is any effective remedy amongst your remedies, these are (three): Cupping, drinking of honey and cauterisation with the help of fire. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had said: As for myself I do not like cauterisation. The cupper was called and he cupped him and he was all right.

Hadith Commentary:
Benefits and Issues:
Cupping (hijama) is the best treatment for those people who reside in hot regions, whose blood is thin, and whose blood tends to move toward the outer parts of the body, thereby absorbing external heat. However, for those whose bodies have less heat and who are weak, this treatment is not suitable for them.

Hadith Commentary:
The demand of faith is precisely that every statement of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) should be met with "We have believed and affirmed," and it should be accepted without any objection or hesitation. This is because whatever he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) has said is entirely from Allah, and it is absolutely true. The fact that there is healing in cupping (hijamah) is a reality that even today's medical science and traditional medicine have acknowledged, because through it, impure blood is removed and healthy blood takes its place, which is, in a way, a guarantee of health.
Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
The demand of faith is precisely that the statements of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) be accepted without objection or hesitation, because his words are based on divine revelation. The fact that there is healing in cupping (hijamah) is a reality that even modern medicine has now acknowledged. In many hospitals in Western countries, a dedicated department has been established for this purpose.
(2)
By performing cupping (hijamah), impure blood is removed and replaced by healthy blood, which serves as a kind of guarantee for well-being and health. However, it is necessary to seek the services of a skilled and experienced practitioner for this. Getting cupping done by an inexperienced person can be harmful, as will be evident from the benefits of the upcoming hadith.
