'Abdullah bin 'Amr. bin al-'As reported that some persons from Banu Hisham entered the house of Asma' daughter of 'Umais when Abu Bakr (RA) also entered (and she was at that time his wife). He (Abu Bakr) saw it and disapproved of it and he made a mention of that to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said: I did not see but good only (in my wife). Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Verily Allah has made her immune from all this. Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stood on the pulpit and said: After this day no man should enter the house of another person in his absence, but only when he is accompanied by one person or two persons.

Hadith Commentary:
Vocabulary of the Hadith:
Mughayyiba:
A woman whose husband is not at home,
He is on a journey or has gone out of the house for work or business.

Benefits and Issues:
Hazrat Asma bint Umais,
is a highly esteemed female Companion (sahabiyyah),
who was the wife of Hazrat Ja'far ibn Abi Talib.
After his martyrdom in the Battle of Mu'tah, she married Hazrat Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu, and after his death, she married Hazrat Ali.
Hazrat Abu Bakr, due to his natural sense of honor and protective jealousy, did not like the men of Banu Hashim to visit in his absence,
even though he did not observe anything objectionable.
Therefore, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, taking into account this natural sense of honor, said
that when strangers visit a woman,
they should go in such a number that there can be no suspicion or doubt,
and the restriction of two or three is essentially for this purpose.
Otherwise, the people of Banu Hashim were also only a few,
because they were referred to as "nadharaf," and the term "nadharaf" applies to at least three,
yet Hazrat Abu Bakr still felt a sense of protective jealousy.
