'A'isha reported: I said: Messenger of Allah, the son of Jud'an established ties of relationship, fed the poor. Would that be of any avail to him? He said: It would be of no avail to him as he did not ever say: O my Lord, pardon my sins on the Day of Resurrection.

Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues:
The disbeliever does not have faith and certainty in the Day of Resurrection,
therefore, he does not perform any deed for the attainment of reward and recompense of the Hereafter,
he acts from a worldly perspective,
thus, he receives the benefit of good deeds in this world.
However, since he performs good deeds and refrains from evil deeds,
his punishment will be lighter compared to those disbelievers
who are deprived of good deeds and commit evil actions.
Faith is a condition for entering Paradise,
and whoever is deprived of faith, no matter how many good deeds,
good character, and excellent dealings he possesses, he cannot attain this benefit from those deeds,
that he should enter Paradise.
