Shaykh Maulana Abdul Aziz Alvi
Hadith Commentary:
Vocabulary of the Hadith:
(1)
MĀ'ILĀTUN:
Those who have deviated from the straight path and the truth, and MUMĪLĀT, those who make others aware of this action of theirs.
(2)
MĀ'ILĀTUN:
Those who walk with affectation and coquettishness,
MUMĪLĀT:
Those who sway their hips.
(3)
MĀ'ILĀTUN:
Those who part their hair to one side like women of the marketplace.
(4)
MUHĪLĀT:
Those who incite other women to this kind of hairdressing.
(5)
Mā'ilāt:
Those who are involved in the causes and inducements of adultery (zina) and those who commit adultery,
MUMĪLĀT:
Those who invite the hearts of others towards immodesty and nakedness.
(6)
KĀSIYĀTUN 'ĀRIYĀTUN:
Those who, for the sake of displaying beauty and attractiveness,
leave some parts of their bodies exposed,
just as women nowadays
expose
their heads,
arms, and some part of their abdomen,
or like European women,
who, wearing only underwear and vests, parade in the markets inviting gazes and seeking opportunities for immodesty and adultery,
or those women whom Allah, the Exalted, has blessed with His bounties,
but they are devoid of gratitude to Allah,
or those who wear such thin clothing
that it reveals their bodies,
It is evident that women blessed with bounties yet devoid of gratitude existed even in your blessed era,
therefore, the other two meanings are intended, and this prophecy of yours has come true word for word.
(7)
RU'ŪSUHUNNA KA-ASNIMATI AL-BUKHTI:
Their heads will be like the humps of Bactrian camels,
Nowadays, women
tie their loose hair at the nape of the neck,
or gather it at the center of the head,
which appears like the hump of a camel, and this prophecy of yours has also come true. And those who beat people with whips like the tails of oxen are
those who beat and torture people to extract confessions from the accused,
or those executioners and policemen
who subject people to oppression and injustice,
or those who, in the name of protecting the ruler, lash people,
thus, both types mentioned in the hadith have become manifest.
