Wa'il al-Hadrami reported that Tariq bin Suwaid a-Ju'fi asked Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) about liquor. He forbade (its use) and he expressed hatred that it should be prepared. He (Tariq) said: I prepare it as a medicine, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: It is no medicine, but an ailment.

Hadith Commentary:
Benefits and Issues:
This hadith also establishes that
it is not permissible to make vinegar from wine, and using it for medical treatment is forbidden,
because it is not a remedy,
rather it is a disease, and this is the position of most jurists.
This is also the opinion of Imam Abu Hanifah, that it is not permissible to use unlawful things for treatment, and according to Saeedi Sahib, the early Hanafi jurists considered it permissible to use wine for treatment,
(Sharh Sahih Muslim,
vol. 6,
p. 235.)
One meaning is that the best vinegar is that which is made from wine; other vinegar is not correct.
