Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Umar Farooq Saeedi
Benefits and Issues:
➊
This ruling is general: it is impermissible to kill even a disbeliever or a criminal by causing them torment.
However, there are some specific cases.
For example, crucifixion,
retaliatory execution (qisas), or stoning to death of a married adulterer.
But after killing, mutilating the corpse
(cutting off its limbs) is not permissible.
➋
When killing animals that are permissible to kill, one should aim carefully and strike the target.
It is forbidden to take pleasure in their writhing and convulsing by inflicting repeated minor injuries.
Similarly, for animals to be slaughtered, the knife should be well-sharpened,
and placed at the required spot.
The animal should be held properly,
or tied, so that the slaughtering is easy.
