Hadith Commentary:
Vocabulary of the Hadith:
Ahl al-Gharb:
What is meant by this is a matter of difference.
According to Ibn al-Madini, by this is meant the Arabs,
who used to use the gharb (a large bucket).
According to some, by Ahl al-Gharb is meant the people of al-Sham (Greater Syria),
as has come in these very narrations.
According to others, it refers to the people of strength and determination, who will display power and might in jihad.
One meaning of “zahirina ‘ala al-haqq” is also this:
they will openly proclaim the truth; they will not be hidden or concealed.
