باب تَحْرِيمِ الْغَدْرِ:Chapter: The prohibition of betrayal
Hadith 1736
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لِكُلِّ غَادِرٍ لِوَاءٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُقَالُ هَذِهِ غَدْرَةُ فُلَانٍ " ،
'Abdullah reported Allah's Prophet (ﷺ) as saying: There will be a flag for every perfidious person on the Day of Judgment, and it would be said: Here is the perfidy of so and so.

وحَدَّثَنَاه إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ فِي هَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، وَلَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ يُقَالُ : هَذِهِ غَدْرَةُ فُلَانٍ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Shu'bah with a slight variation of wording.

وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لِكُلِّ غَادِرٍ لِوَاءٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُعْرَفُ بِهِ يُقَالُ هَذِهِ غَدْرَةُ فُلَانٍ " .
It has been narrated on the authority of'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: There will be for every perfidious person on the Day of Judgment a flag by which he will be recognised. It will be announced: Here is the breach of faith of so and so.

Benefits and Issues:

After pledging allegiance to the legitimate Islamic ruler and caliph, breaking that allegiance is a very grave sin.
➋
On the Day of Resurrection, such a criminal will face great disgrace and humiliation.
➌
A flag is something that can be seen from afar; therefore, the rebellion against the legitimate caliph will be widely publicized.
People will see from a distance and say, “This person was a traitor. This flag is the proclamation of his treachery.”

The punishment for some sins will be given in the plain of resurrection (mahshar) itself, even before entering Hell.
