Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: This hadith establishes that any action or practice that continued during the Prophetic era, and was not prohibited in the Qur'an or Sunnah, serves as evidence for its permissibility. For if such an action were impermissible, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) would have been informed of it through clear revelation (wahy jali) or subtle revelation (wahy khafi), and its prohibition would have been mentioned in the Qur'an or hadith.
