باب تَحْرِيمِ نِكَاحِ الشِّغَارِ وَبُطْلاَنِهِ:Chapter: Prohibition and invalidity of Shighar Marriage
Hadith 1416
حدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْر ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الشِّغَارِ " ، زَادَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ : وَالشِّغَارُ : أَنْ يَقُولَ الرَّجُلُ لِلرَّجُلِ : زَوِّجْنِي ابْنَتَكَ ، وَأُزَوِّجُكَ ابْنَتِي ، أَوْ زَوِّجْنِي أُخْتَكَ ، وَأُزَوِّجُكَ أُخْتِي ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) prohibited Shighar. Ibn Numair added: Shighar means that a person should say to the other person: Give me the hand of your daughter in marriage and I will (in return) marry my daughter to you; or marry me your sister, and I will marry my sister to you.

وحدثناه أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حدثنا عَبْدَةُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ زِيَادَةَ ابْنِ نُمَيْرٍ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar (RA) with the same chain of transmitters, but there is no mention of Ibn Numair.

"This 'his sister' is merely an example; otherwise, if the condition of marriage pertains to anyone—whether it is a daughter, a sister, a niece (brother's daughter), or a niece (sister's daughter), etc.—there is no difference."
