باب الْحَثِّ عَلَى الْمُبَادَرَةِ بِالأَعْمَالِ قَبْلَ تَظَاهُرِ الْفِتَنِ:Chapter: Encouragement to hasten to do good deeds before the emergence of the Fitnah
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ ، وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَيُّوبَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " بَادِرُوا بِالأَعْمَالِ فِتَنًا كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ ، يُصْبِحُ الرَّجُلُ مُؤْمِنًا ، وَيُمْسِي كَافِرًا ، أَوْ يُمْسِي مُؤْمِنًا ، وَيُصْبِحُ كَافِرًا ، يَبِيعُ دِينَهُ بِعَرَضٍ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا " .
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed: Be prompt in doing good deeds (before you are overtaken) by turbulence which would be like a part of the dark night. During (that stormy period) a man would be a Muslim in the morning and an unbeliever in the evening or he would be a believer in the evening and an unbeliever in the morning, and would sell his faith for worldly goods.

Plural of fitnah,
a thing of trial and test.
(2)
Badiru:
Hasten,
compete (in doing something quickly).
(3)
Ka-qita‘i al-layl al-muzlim:
Pieces of the dark night,
meaning the appearance of many tribulations.
Benefits and Issues:
(1)
A person should take advantage of his times of health and well-being by performing as many righteous deeds as possible,
for one does not know when circumstances may change and doing good deeds may become difficult.
It is not possible to do good deeds while ignoring worldly interests and benefits.
And it is not within every person's capacity to disregard worldly interests and benefits.
(2)
The cause of the destruction and ruin of faith is worldly interests and motives,
to which a person becomes enslaved and thus may be deprived of his faith, and sacrificing these motives and interests is difficult,
as is evident from the current state of our society, and success and prosperity are not possible except that a person rises above worldly interests in order to attain anything.

Explanation:
1:
That is, near the time of the Hour, tribulations will appear in abundance,
everyone will be a seeker of the world,
in the eyes of people, religion and faith will no longer hold any value,
a person will assume various forms,
to the extent that, for worldly interests, he will end up selling his religion and faith,
in this hadith, in such circumstances, the people of faith are instructed to remain steadfast and to perform righteous deeds without delay.
