Hadith 39289
٣٩٢٨٩ - حدثنا سفيان ابن عيينة عن زيد بن أسلم عن ابن عمر قال: دخل ⦗٣٤٢⦘ رسول اللَّه ﷺ مسجد بني عمرو بن عوف يصلي فيه، (ودخلت) (١) عليه رجال من الأنصار ودخل معهم صهيب، فسألت صهيبا: كيف كان رسول اللَّه ﷺ يصنع حيث كان يسلم عليه؟ قال: كان يشير بيده (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the mosque of Banu Amr bin Awf and he (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed there. And some people from the Ansar came to him, and with them was Hazrat Suhaib as well. I asked Hazrat Suhaib: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was greeted with salam, what would he do? He replied: He (peace and blessings be upon him) would gesture with his hand. And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion has been mentioned that: the one praying (should) not do so.
