Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Bakrah narrates that during the blessed time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, there was a solar or lunar eclipse. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Indeed, the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of anyone’s death among the people. So if this happens, then perform prayer until the eclipse is over.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates from so-and-so that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Indeed, the eclipse of the sun is one of the signs of Allah, so when you see it, seek refuge in prayer.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the prayer of lunar and solar eclipse consists of six units (rak‘ahs) in four prostrations (sajdahs).

Hazrat Alqamah says that when you feel any anxiety from the horizon of the sky, then seek refuge in prayer.

Hazrat Nu'man bin Bashir narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray during an eclipse in the same manner as your (regular) prayer; he would perform bowing (ruku') and prostration (sajda). And (Imam) Abu Hanifa's opinion has been mentioned that: No prayer will be performed during a lunar eclipse.
