Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had two sermons; he (peace and blessings be upon him) would sit in them, recite the Qur'an, and remind the people.

Hazrat Ja'far narrates from his father that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to deliver the sermon while standing, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would sit down, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand up again; thus, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would deliver two sermons.

Hazrat Salih Mawla al-Tuwamah narrates that when Marwan appointed Hazrat Abu Hurairah as the governor of Madinah, he used to lead us in the Friday prayer, deliver two sermons, and sit down twice. And (Imam) Abu Hanifah's opinion has been mentioned that: the Imam will sit only once.
